WITH WHOM

The DokuBakuLab is co-organised by DokuBaku IDFF, Restart and The Azerbaijan Union of Film-makers.

Restart is an organization focused on production, education, distribution and exhibition of creative documentary films. In 2014 Restart also started producing fiction films. The restart was founded in 2007 and people working in Restart are younger film experts. Our films were screened as part of the program of film festivals such as Hot Docs (Toronto, Canada), Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic), Rotterdam Film Festival (Netherlands), Fid Marseille (France), Zurich Film Festival (Switzerland), DOK Leipzig (Germany).

Restart runs several film projects - documentary and fiction film production, distribution of documentary films, a documentary cinema and an educational program in documentary film.

The workshop will be held by two tutors who have been teaching documentary storytelling for many years. Igor Bezinović, filmmaker and storyteller, and Hrvoslava Brkušić - a film editor and media artist.

Igor Bezinović was born in Rijeka in 1983. He graduated in philosophy, sociology and comparative literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb and in Film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb.

He directed about a dozen short films, feature-length documentary “The Blockade” and feature-length fiction “A Brief Excursion”. In Restart Igor works as a mentor in School of documentary films and as a lecturer in different educational programs.

Born in 1982, Hrvoslava graduated film editing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and holds an MA at the Department for animation and new media at the Academy of fine arts, Zagreb. As a film editor, she contributed to the series of documentary, feature and experimental films such as documentary film The Blockade directed by Igor Bezinović about students’ protests and a struggle for free education, and video-work by same director entitled “Unmediated democracy demands unmediated Space” in collaboration with Pula group in the framework of Architecture Biennale in Venice.
